I'm sitting in my leather chair at my house. It is one that I got at a used-funiture store in Kansas City. It's one of those things where Tish and I had been in there and i saw it. It had a $125 price tag on it. So i knew i wouldn't buy it, but i just had to try it out. I sat down in it and fell in love. I made the statement to Tish, "Someday i want a chair like that." It was almost 6 months later that Tish and I were helping my sister move to Kansas City. We used a Uhaul truck from Neosho to take her up there. We decided to stop in there just to look and the chair was still there. in fact, it was only $40! And i just happened to have a Uhaul Truck with me! so we bought the chair and put it in the truck and brought it home with us. I have been so pleased with it, and i'm so glad i didn't spend $150 on it.
You know, i think that as humans we get so impatient. We want what we want and we want it now. We think that we have to have it to be happy. It's this sick lie that Satan has fed us that we need this stuff for fulfillment. So we do what it takes to get it when we want it. This flows over into our spiritual life. If we don't get answers from God that we want when we want them... then we get upset if we don't get it. Could it be though, that God has something better planned? Could he have a better "deal" for life than we can currently get? Could it be that if we would be a little more patient, then we'd find more joy in what God offers than what we can make happen? Today, i challenge you to be patient. Wait.
